Mohanlal Sukhadia University (erstwhile Udaipur University) at Udaipur is a State University established by an Act in the year 1962 to cater the needs of higher education in Southern Rajasthan with more then 2.25 Lakh Students. The University is located in Aravalli Hill Area largely dominated by tribal populations. Endowed with rich cultural heritage, natural resources and beautiful landscape, Udaipur is a world-renowned tourist attraction.

Ever since its inception university has been striving to maintain excellence in teaching, research and community service. Great emphasis has been laid in creating scientific temper, maintaining high ethical values and in keeping pace with emerging areas of higher learning. University has ensured overall socio-economic growth of all the sections of society.

Department of Zoology

The Department of Zoology, Mohanlal Sukhadia University (erstwhile Udaipur University) at Udaipur is a State University established by an Act in the year 1964 to cater the needs of higher education in Southern Rajasthan. The Department has proved its worth by producing a brigade of highly qualified professionals, Scientists, Academicians and Scholars. The Department has made a mark at National level by the achievement of Padma Shree Award by Dr. G.C. Mishra, Shanti Swroop Bhatnagar Award to Prof. S. S. Guraya, Prof. Bhomitra Dev (Vice- Chancellor, Mangla Yatan University and University of Gorakhpur), Prof Madhu Sudan Sharma (Vice – Chancellor, Kota University), Best Scientist Award (Env. Science), Erasmus Mundus Fellowship For Faculty Improvement & Dr. V.P. Sharma Gold Medal to Prof. Arti Prasad, Prof. R S Paroda Best Presentation Award to Dr. Vijay Kumar Koli and Dr. Girima Nagda, State Level Role Model Award by Govt. Of Rajasthan to Dr. Deepak Raval and Best Poster Presentation Award by Zoological Survey of India, Govt. of India to Dr. Devendra Kumar. The department offers Post graduate degree in zoology with specialization in Entomology, Wild life biology and Limnology and Fisheries. Major thrust areas of research in The Department are Vector control, public health entomology, vector and pest bionomics and surveillance, Wild life biology, Chironomid biology and Heavy metal toxicology.

Post Graduation Diploma In Public Health Entomology

In the struggle against vector-borne diseases, it is critical that we bridge the gap between vector control workers on the ground (practitioners) and public health planners and administrators. Experiencing the dearth of guidance in this field, The LABORATORY OF PUBLIC HEALTH ENTOMOLOGY came up with the concepts, design, and implementation of a sound public health entomology Diploma.

Public Health Entomology comprehensively examines vector-borne disease prevention, surveillance, and control from a governmental and public health perspective with worldwide application. Population growth and distribution predicted over future decades pose increased risks of disease outbreaks and emergence of new diseases worldwide. Scientists from many disciplines, veterinarians, health-care practitioners, public health workers and policy makers are needed to provide public health surveillance, make new discoveries, and find solutions to address these risks.
